How the conversions are figured
Volume & mass are built up from exact legal definitions: the US gallon is 3.785411784 L and the imperial gallon is 4.54609 L, so US and imperial fluid ounces, pints and quarts differ and are listed separately. The beer barrels follow brewing convention — US bbl = 31 US gal (the TTB beer barrel) and UK bbl = 36 imperial gal. Pounds and ounces come from the exact lb = 453.59237 g.
Gravity. Specific gravity is the anchor. Points are simply (SG − 1) × 1000. SG ↔ °Plato uses the ASBC cubic °P = −616.868 + 1111.14·SG − 630.272·SG² + 135.997·SG³, inverted numerically so the grid round-trips on itself exactly. °Brix and °Plato are both percent sucrose by mass, so on this grid they read alike — but a refractometer pointed at wort reads high, which is what the helper below the grid is for.
The rest. Color: EBC ≈ SRM × 1.97, with °Lovibond from the common SRM = 1.3546·°L − 0.76 (an empirical fit — treat it as close, not exact). Pressure is referenced to 1 atm = 101.325 kPa = 14.696 psi. Extract potential converts PPG (points per pound per US gallon) to metric L·°/kg at ×8.3454. Water hardness expresses everything as ppm CaCO₃ — handy for unit-matching, though the Water Adjustment tool is where actual ion chemistry lives.
